Ístex Lopi Álafosslopi is a legendary Icelandic wool yarn with authentic heritage and timeless appeal. This 100% pure wool chunky-weight yarn is spun from the fleece of Icelandic sheep, delivering natural warmth, durability, and that distinctive earthy, rustic character knitters have treasured for generations.

Each 100g ball yields 100m, making it perfect for sweaters, blankets, home décor, and stuffed animals. Its beautiful heathered and tweedy colours showcase the natural purity of Icelandic wool. Equally suited to knitting and crochet projects, this yarn has been one of Iceland's most enduring wool productions for decades.

Evolving over a millennium of exposure to the sub-Arctic climate, Icelandic wool is unique in its dual-fibre structure. Fine, soft inner fibres provide superior insulation, while long, glossy outer fibres offer water-repellency. The result is exceptionally durable, lightweight, breathable yarn that keeps you warm, comfortable and dry.

Hand wash recommended. Ideal for makers seeking authentic fibres with genuine provenance and lasting appeal.
